I can't do this! It's too hard! The swan song of the depressed, overwhelmed, exhausted and truly frustrated people.

How many times has this been my cry, it's too hard! It's usually when I'm at my wits end, but that is a good thing. It is only when I'm ready to give it all up that God can enter the picture and finally take control of the situation. I finally get peace and comfort.

When my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and came to live with me, I daily cried out I can't do this. But, alas, I trudged on, letting the naysayer in my brain quiet down and focused on doing God's will. Essentially, I just followed my feet and did what was in front of me.

My reward? I have a relationship with my mom that I truly cherish, I learned to be a compassionate caregiver, I met and date my favorite person and I became a writer. All of this because I was willing to accept the role that God assigned me and that I take care of my mom.

What am I resisting now? No longer do I resist. I believe in all the goodness that God gives me. Hope, surrender, and holy companionship. I need to focus on these things and less on the naysayer in my head. So I pray, and allow myself to experience the good today. I try not to feed the darkness. This I do by practicing the opposite of what my naysayer says. It really works.

It's hard, but Jesus just made it holy.

How has Jesus taken what is hard for you and made it holy?
